This painting is of the sand dunes surounding Matanzas Inlet near Saint Augustine, Florida. The scene is shrouded in a thick fog which at the time was covering large sections of the Eastern Seaboard all the way north to Canada. Despite the dimming light, the pure white sand still contrasted brightly against the dark green cabbage palms and dense cedar thickets overlooking the river.
